DIY Floyd bed frame are an affordable alternative to expensive bed frames. Even without extensive knowledge of construction, you can make a bed frame that will support the bed and enhance the look of your bedroom. When you make a bed frame, measure the bed yourself and the space you have in your house; you may need to take the frame into pieces and mount it in the room to avoid getting stuck in low doorways.
One of the easiest ways to make your own Floyd bed frame is to build a low, split-floor platform. To do this, measure the length and width of your bed and buy six planks of sturdy wood that is about 4 inches shorter than the width. Look for boards that are approximately 9 to 12 inches wide for best support, or use a larger amount of narrower boards.

For the base of the Floyd bed frame, buy two thick 4-inch times’ six inch boards that are slightly shorter than the length of the bed. Place the thick slices about 4 meters apart and lay the planks over them evenly distributed. Nail or drill the planks to base boards to complete the frame. You can sand the edges of boards and use paint or varnish to finish the frame, or you can leave it as it is.
